Louisa Duponts quail gun,my great grandma.Parker single trigger side by side 28gauge
Hello,
My name is Kenneth Carpenter. I am a direct descendant of the Dupont family. My great grandma was Louisa Dupont. I have a Parker 28 gauge single trigger side by side shot gun that i am trying to see what its worth. Im having trouble understanding how to communicate on this forum and this is the first time i was able to write a letter. Would you happen to know where on this site would be the best to ask these question about my gun and its heritage? would appreciate any input i can get. Thank you Ken Carpenter |
Ken,
You are in the right forum. It would help to have pictures of the gun to be able to see the grade and condition of the gun. The providence that it is a Duponts family gun adds to the value. |
Im trying to learn how to post pics.do you know how? Could you price it with pics and serial number?

On the home page there are instructions on how to post pictures. You can email them to me and I will post them for you.

See the two video's at the bottom of www.parlerguns.org after you click on the FAQ link on it's left side. The list on the left of our home page are links that can help you learn about Parker guns. The process to post pictures on the forum can be found on the FAQ link (assuming you are using Windows on your computer).

The way I post pics is to copy them from an image hosting site. There are several to choose from, I use Imgur.com. Download the pics to the site then copy from the site to the thread here. There are other ways to do it as well. Value will depend on condition, grade, originality etc., but being a 28 gauge from the Dupont family makes for an interesting gun! Good luck!

That would be great Jeff, thank you. I will send them to your email. My email is Carpenterken@comcast.net

Mr. Carpenter:
The gun you have possesses at least two levels of value. One as a 28-bore Parker (of unknown grade as yet) and Two, as an heirloom of the DuPont family. BOTH of these dimensions must be considered to result in an approximate dollar value. Your best bet is to contact an independent arms appraiser. Even then, "value" is nebulous. If you intend to sell the gun, it has one value. Auction it? That's another value. Keep it? in that case, YOU know best... perhaps after some general guidance here. |
I send you like 12 pics.

Mr. Carpenter - Welcome to the Forum.
I would assume you are related to Ruly Carpenter. He went to Tower Hill, and I was a couple of years behind him at Friends. Did you grow up in Wilmington? |
