GH 12 action clean up

I recently picked up a 1902 GH 12 damascus and at the end of the season I will be sending the barrels of to Batchelder for a refinish. The action has a brown patina on it and was wondering if this should be cleaned beyond just 0000 steel wool and a light oil ?

Steel wool is abrasive. I would recommend brass or bronze cleaning implements, combined with Hoppe's No. 9 solvent. With non-ferrous pads and brushes, you can scrub to your heart's content without destroying any real patina or remaining case colors. Good Luck!

Frontier pads work great for me. Bobby

I would just send the whole gun to Brad and have him clean it up. The cost probably won't be too much and it is better to make sure it is done right. Just my .02 . . .

A complete strip and an ultrasonic cleaning will remove about anything that is going to come off.

Great idea ! I will send the complete gun when I have the barrels done and have it stripped and cleaned.

Thanks
