High Grade Underlifter
 

Can you advise? - what was the high grade underlifter hammer gun s/n 12571 that sold today at auction?

$3300 with premium.

Wow, I was tempted to bid up to $4k..... but I forgot to.

Sadly answered it myself I think - the top grade D6 (A)?, 1878, in good original shape except heavily refinished barrels, almost obscuring the rib marking - Leland Little auction, with 2 rough G grade guns. Surely we'll see this gun again. Thanks for your help and please add anything else you can.

It is a great candidate for restoration.

I would love to see the auction description with pictures. I guess that isn't going to happen.

Go to hammergun discussions and see posts. I went through the whole gun with them and my personal decision was that $2,500.00 with premium was about the top end considering the amount of restoration needed for a 3 frame 10 gauge. There was about 5 K worth of work neede IMHO
