Parker DHE Straight Stock

New Parker guy here so take it easy on me. I purchased this DHE from a friend last year. I would say that the wood is great and about 75% case coloring remains. However, my Parker letter says it was ordered and shipped in 1908 with 32in bbls. They currently measure 28. Couple of questions I have are
-Evidently they have been cut and what does that do to the functionality?
-What does it do to the value?
-Should I seek someone to fit new/old bbls? Is it cost prohibitive?Attachment 56784

It shouldn't hurt the functionality, there will be less to no choke which is fine for close work in the uplands as in grouse and woodcock.

Value wise the cut barrels will hurt the value. The cost of finding another set of barrels getting them fitted and numbered to the gun would IMHO be cost prohibitive.

Thanks for the reply. Learning as I go has been expensive thus far. Cheaper than therapy however......

You might want to pattern that gun! If it has that kind of condition and you hunt the uplands..... depending on the drop you may find out that it is about perfect? good luck....

Did your "friend" know the barrels were cut ?

What you have is a shooter that likely will perform very well in certain arenas. Patterning and aome shooting time will tell.
Balance was effected some, i am sure, with removal of 4" of the barrels.
Does your gun have a safety on it?

Can we see pictures of the rest of the gun?
