factory barrel lengths
Can someone tell me what the shortest Parker barrel length was for a factory 12 ga. hammer gun with top lever?

A quick thumb through The Parker Story shows three Quality 0 with 24-inch barrels and two Quality 1 with 24-inch barrels. Nothing shorter then 26-inch in the higher qualities.

Figures, Why would anyone ever hack off barrels on a Parker? I'm talking 19 1/2"!!
Looking at it from a "half full" prospective, I probably have one of the few Parker scatter guns around.....at least I hope I do. Hate to think there are a lot of them. |
Carl, unfortunately several years ago while attending the "Winter Range" Cowboy Action Shoot in Phoenix I shared a picnic table with a man and wife shooting team during a break. They had a pair of 16 gauge Parkers with the barrels cut to 18 inches, 2 aggressively modified 1892 Winchester 32-20 and 4 original Colt Single Actions in 32-20 which also had been modified for speed. They were very proud of their guns and the work on their gunsmith.

I have a very nice Fox AE 16 ga. with 30" barrels, a fairly scarce gun. When I bought it many years ago, it had a very nice original stock which had been cut to 11", and a drivers license # stenciled into the barrels.Never understood the logic of taking a fine Fox AE and converting it to fit a small person, unless it was for a woman. Still hard to figure, there was no butt plate or pad. Hard to figure.
