New load for the 1894 Remington C
2 Attachment(s)
19 grains of 700x...1 3/8 of 7 1/2's...Remington hull....SP10 wad...Win 209 primer....16 gauge 1/2 inch fiber wad under the shot. The pattern was shot at 65 yards. I also tried flax seed on top of the shot but it did not pattern as well. I do not know the pressure but it seems to be a moderately mild load. I do have a chronograph and it clocks at 1172. Going to try some hard or plated shot as well as some larger shot sizes. I think this will make a good long distance clay busting load. Looks like it wold have put quite a few hits in a Dr Pepper can....

Wow!! A C-quality 10-gauge Remington Hammerless Double!! Tell us more about this gun. Just don't see higher grade Remingtons in 10-gauge. Is it the one that was in the October 2015 Julia's auction?

It is Dave. It has 32 Etoile Damascus barrels in very good condition. I have shot it quite a bit. Used it a couple times at the New Years day shoot in the protection shoot and it shot well for me. Those some long shots shooting second from the 27 yard station. It is choked modified and full. Very tight chambers and also has ejectors. It is a 10 lb gun with balance more forward than my EM Reilly 10 which also weighs 10 lbs. A very fun gun to shoot!

What type of criump did you use on your loads. Thanks in advance.

Regular star crimp from a mec 600 Wayne...with the fiber wad and 1 3/8 it made a very nice tight crimp..

bob looks like you put quite a few hits on the target...i belive you would have put several hits in the dr pepper can...you have a nice gun there i also have a 10 ga remy 1894 with ejectors but it is only a a grade....these guns are easy to work on and brian has some parts for them i bought a hammer spring off him and installed myself...these are really fine guns...charlie

Good to know Charlie...hope I never need parts but good to know they are available...several of the Remingtonshoots Like yours and Pete's are tight shooting...Wonder if any might have been bored by Burt Becker during his Remington years??

Nice gun. I have a C in 12ga - bought it just for the Etoile pattern on the barrels. The only Remington 10 I have is a 1882 hammergun with the barrel rifle liner. It also shoots nice tight patterns. Brad Bachelder and Garland Jackson, a Remington collector, also have parts. Garland makes real nice top lever springs for the 1894 - I always keep a couple on hand [ I have six 1894's and friends also have them ]. His phone number for the warm months is 1-330-669-2138. The top lever springs are the only item I've ever replaced and over the years have gone through three of them.
