Is there a dictionary which describes those letters and numbers?

Yep, the identification & serialization book.

PT=Parker Twist
U=Underlifter
0=No Extra's
P=Pistol Grip
12=Gauge
30=Barrel Length

Would the codes be something worthwhile to add to the information tabs on the first page?

i expect we get would back into the copyright issue

Among the many things I'm not, copyright lawyer is right up there, but, that being said, what is the difference between someone posting the code in response to a question, and posting it as a reference point in our literature?

Neither am I - but the readers digest version as i understand it is that you can quote small portions of a work -especially for "educational" purposes - copying a whole section is an issue

besides - its a fun book to have around- I use mine regularly - I answered a question here yesterday and one for a traveling friend today. I have also used it multiple times to check out an auction gun I may have interest in. I learn a bit many times, I just wish I could get an e-book version (it would likely be the only e-book I would ever buy)
