Parker 10 gauge info
4 Attachment(s)
I am new to the forum. I would appreciate some info on value of a parker 10 gauge I have. My dad was a big gun collector, not sure where he picked this gun up at. Both of my parents are in the nursing home, and it does not have any sentimental value to me. Serial # is 7886 made in 1876, Frame size 3, Barrel weight 5 10, Grade 3 DH, Damascus steel barrel. Thanks

welcome to the board We should have this moved to the hammer gun forum For sale ads require a price - which is what you are asking for a DH is a hammerless grade which this is not the book says this is a straight stocked plain twist 0 grade - which it also is not - does it have 30" barrels? looks to be a grade 2 could you post some pictures of the markings on the action and the barrel flats what are the bores like? |
I'd be more than happy to move it to the gun forum, not sure how, unless I just repost it? As far as the grade, it has a DH on it, Hope the pictures can show it. It may be a D, because the H is smaller and up, and to the right of it just a little. I'm having a hard time getting good pictures of the letters, will have to try tomorrow. It has a 32" barrel.

The forend checkering pattern is that of a Grade 2 or G grade. The engraving could be Grade 1 or Grade 2. This gun was made in a period before a grade level engraving theme had been adopted. Note the lack of birds engraved in the lock plates, a standard feature on later Grade 2 Parkers.

the D on the barrels is for the Damascus in the barrels
grade is marked on the watertable - the flats of the action |
I am going to get a letter on this gun, but not sure about butt plate descriptions, and forend descriptions.
|
Those look original - a steel butt plate and a keyed splinter forend.

Thank you

Dean, Where do you see a keyed fore end? I see a Deely latched fore end.
|
You're right Edgar - what the heck was I looking at to come up with that????
It is definitely a Deely style latch, not keyed. Nonetheless, it looks original. . |
