R and L Markings
 

Looking at a Parker the other day that had a R and L stamped behind or next to the triggers on the floor plate. Noticed that none of my guns have this marking. What is the meaning of this or the purpose.

If it was a single trigger (Miller) gun, I'd say it indicated Right and Left.
If it's a double trigger gun, I'd say it WAS a single trigger gun, indicating Right and Left

It was a double trigger gun, but none of my Parkers ( all double triggers )are have these R and L markings.

Then it was a single that was concerted back to double.

Another thought on this. If it were a miller with a rocker selector, the R and L would be on each side like he describes. But, millers usually are fat triggers that require the center trigger divider to be removed. So converting back to DT with the same trigger plate would be much more difficult.
So maybe it was another type of trigger with a similar selector.

You're right on the Miller. I guess I knew that and shouldn't have thrown it out there as an example. Didn't the Parker trigger use the left trigger slot? The only gun I have with an SST is my repro, and either because it's never failed me, or because the repro hasn't inspired me to have a look inside, I am the furthest from an authority on single trigger mechanisms.
The Fulford trigger was, in my mind, a piece of engineering brilliance, but that one was for the Trap shooter, and not so much for the hunter.

I had a PH with a Parker single non selective trigger that used the left trigger and blanked the right slot

Never seen one of those.
