I'm in Wisconsin, I bought an Ithaca Flues from a man in TX, He got from Maryland. While cleaning it up I found a 1941 WI hunting license under the butt plate. I put it back and sold it to a man in Alaska. If these old guns could talk!!!!

I once owned a 1917 gun that had a 1918 hunting licence in the stock. I laminated it and put it back inside. It was an Ithaca.

That would be a good thing. Looks like he still lives in the same town.

If the age is right on that health grades site then I doubt that's the same guy.. He'd of been 17-18 in 1951? Maybe that's his son?

I have a P grade 16,that had a name and address in a hole under the butt plate.I sent a letter but got no reply.I added my name address and date, and put it back under the butt plate.

Several years ago, I bought a Winchester model 61 .22 pump rifle made in the mid 1930's.
I pulled off the butt plate and found several locks of very fine redish blond hair wrapped in a 1936 era Denver Post newspaper and a 1936 series $1 bill (silver certificate). Put them back in the gun. I still have the gun. |
