Short shells

My Parker 10ga lifter has 2 5/8" chambers. I put a 1/4" spacer under Mecs spacer to load the shells. Then I tried a 2" shell by putting a 3/4" dowel rod about 3/4" high under the shell when crimping . So don't throw away any shells because the end gets bad - just shorten them and keep on reloading. My granddaughter who also shoots with me said 'you could go all the way down to the high brass '. Don't know about that, but I can keep on useing those hulls. Paul

thanks for the info paul.on a lot of my reloads i never crimp the hulls thus longer case life.but with large gauge you wiull get a few more duds. charlie

The crimp is what causes some of the pressure- just useing glue will lower pressure quite a bit, thus causing duds sometimes. Paul
