A good day in Wisconsin

I offered my Parkers to my 2 boys this weekend with good results. Can't say the same for me...couldn't get comfortable with the loaner gun. But thats ok. Getting a chance to hunt with your boys and seeing the smiles on their faces is priceless.

That field held some birds I've never seen before; a couple of black hen pheasants. I was kidding my son Jack that he must have shot a crow by mistake.
Looking forward to sitting down over some pheasant pot pie Thanksgiving weekend. I posted my wife's recipe, they're really good.

Those are some fine looking pot pies!

We shot some of those dark melanistic pheasants at a preserve in Utah in '07.

While working my dog at a preserve tower shoot, I got a melanistic bird. Skinned it and salted it with the expectation that I could figure out some sort of trout flies to tie with it. Nothing ever came of it, and I finally threw it away last week.

They might be ugly but those birds are tough...

Is that a loon pot pie?
