Will you be making the attempt Dr. John sir?

I sure wish I could. It has always been a bucket list thing for me to go to England and participate in one of their bigger shoots. They also just have completed their British Side by Side Championship, Sponsored by Atkin Grant and Lang.

I guess to participate I will have to find a trio of 34" DHE's. Mr Romig you've given me something to think about.

I have noticed the Brits tend to come up with unique shooting events, like the one I posted in the original post. They do some cool stuff. If anyone gets bored check out the Stratstone Ultimate One or Gamebore White Gold Challenge.

I just thought the idea of trying to replicate Lord Ripons success was a neat idea and unique.

As I understand it, Lord Ripon's hammer Purdeys were/are ejector guns but not self cocking.

Mr Murphy,

You bring up a great point. I was thinking of that last night. In the video I watched the guys were using hammerless guns with ejectors. But I had remembered Ripons guns were hammerguns. I was not aware they were ejector type. But non the less to do what he did with hammerguns is a heck of a feat. Esp for the loaders.
BTW didn't they have a hard time selling at least one of those guns with in the past few years?

Looks like Diggory H participated. Doesn't he or hasn't he been a participant at the Southern or one of the other side by side shoots here at home?

Rapid shooting with a loader is no more problematic with a hammer gun than a hammerless. All the shooter does is accept the loaded gun, fire, then hand it off for reloading - as he accepts his loaded No. 2 gun. Whether the hammers are external or internal makes little difference.

If you're alone without a loader, it does.

Various of Ripon's guns have been offered in the recent past. Whether they are or have been "together", I don't know. Donald Dallas' Purdey books probably picture and give information on the Ripon guns.

Me. John sir, a 34" DHE just sold at Julia's on Tuesday.... That could have been part of your three-gun-set.
