Looks to be Singer's patented "compensating" lug. Is there a small screw on the face of the lug as well?

Oh. I see, it is spring loaded . That's a new one on me. I see the pat is from California. The gun
belonged to a trap shooter from there.

The c. 1900 sporting periodicals such as The American Field routinely carried his ads along with those of Wolfsperger and Moran (ejectors), etc.

Singer originally worked for Pachmayer and then built and imported guns on his own in LosAngeles. I have a wonderful German two gauge set imported by him in the 1930's.

Patrick.
