Heading Out Soon

Heading out soon. The season opens Sept 1 for prairie grouse. Sharptail tooled into the case leather.

1881 G grade Parker , 12 ga 28" chokes .016 left and right , 7 lbs 2 oz on a number 1 frame. I measured the chambers carefully at 2 3/4" and I see no evidence that they have ever been altered. I assumed I would find 2 5/8 , and used a plastic card cut to cartridge diameter to find the start of the forcing cone, measuring from there. Anybody have a better technique?

I really like gun cases with birds carved on them. Very nice. Good luck on the hunt.

Ever since I misplaced my Galazan blade-style chamber gauge I have been using trimmed credit cards or plastic business cards.

Here is a simple gauge for a 12.
