Tarnation poster

Hi. Travelling at moment. Can anyone give me the dimensions of the poster. I have it at home but I'm not there. Thanks

Greg Baehman 08-30-2016 01:24 PM

17" x 22" overall with an image size of 13 7/8" x 17 7/8".

Thanks for the info. Looking at some old barn boards to make a frame. They should complement the shed in the poster. They are all grey with some lichen growing. Will post a pic once completed. Cheers, Jack

Well, after a few years of scanning pheasant country for the right weathered wood, a friend and I found some fir boards used on a now rotted shelter fence. Three held some promise. After they came home and were examined closer, one was selected for a framing project for the Tarnation poster and another will become a wall display mount for the Borden Parker. The third one turns out to be not as good in the shop as it looked in the field.

Here is TARNATION !!!

Pretty cool you used a piece that has 'critter' claw marks!

Dean, not sure what critter but there must have been one some time ago. Could have been kit fox, red fox, porcupine, skunk and possibly coyote. The other thing I like is, when we were ripping the 12" board, that knot on the right side of the frame was raised a bit and the blade just bumped it up further. So the knot remained sticking out beyond the edge. Kept that, as thought it also was interesting. There are also several old white stains from bird droppings. The droppings are long gone but the stain remains. The decades long weathering, including lichen, made it quite irresistible to make something from it. The whole board was cupped, so the 45 degree corners were difficult to make work but close enough. It is rustic anyway. As I said, the Borden Parker will grace the wall with another one of these boards and some apple wood branches to make the support "dowels". The things we can find to do when there is nothing but time, until that is used up. Cheers, Jack
