Need help with Decision on 2 barrel set vs. two separate guns.
Alright,
So I have a 16ga vh 0 frame with 28" tubes that is currently being restocked by Brian. I recently acquired a 20g vh 0 frame with 28" sleeved barrels for a helluva deal. I have very unusual stock dimensions and it is very important to me that the gun fits right and balances properly. My question is: Should I pillage the barrels from my recently aquired 20ga to create a 2 barrel set with my newly stocked 16ga 0 frame? or Should I just go ahead and restock the 20ga as well. Side-Note: the forend would need replaced as well as it is not checkered properly. Any thoughts and opinions are appreciated! |
The 20ga sleeved gun, if cheaper than a restock, I would do a donor set to the 16 and maybe you would get lunch and the 16 fore end would fit also. Then you would have parts to sell to offset cost of barrel fitting. Just my opinion. Others would differ. Jim

I am not sure how I would feel about selling off the other pieces, just seems sort of wrong to me to split a gun up like that.

In that case. I think you answered your own question
BTW. I don't like to see a working gun parted out either. But financially it's an option |
There is the option of just using the barrels, but not selling the rest and holding onto it..

How do the 20 ga barrels compare in weight to the 16's?
This could affect the balance. Also fitting could be as easy as they just snap on or the barrels may require significant alterations to make them fit. All stuff to consider. Good luck with your decision. |

If material had to be removed to make them fit. TIG or laser welding could build it back up. And then they could be fitted again If material was added it could be removed It very well could be a mix. Added some places, removed others So both would need to be reversed Seems to me to be a lot of work for VH's, after all that you may have wished you had restocked the 20 in the first place |
