PARKER REPRODUCTION GUN PROBLEM
 

good afternoon. I need help for a friend who has a dhe reproduction 20g. he inherited the from his fathers estate and has shot a few rounds of sporting clays with it. He went to assemble the gun for another event and found that he could not get the fore end to mate and snap back into position. I'm not able to view the gun myself. He is located in Georgia and would like to take the gun to be examined. It shot flawless in the past and his dad hunted doves with it for 12 years. any advice or recommendation would be appreciative.

I would guess that one or both of the ejector hammers in the forend tripped upon gun take down. A wooden dowel can be used to push them back to recock. Once in the cocked position the gun should reassemble.

I can remember all too well when this first happened to me.

I had acquired my second Parker, a nice 20 (28") VHE, and managed to trip the ejectors with the forearm off. I consulted my Parker friend, who only collects the old extractor guns, and he had no answer, so I took the 20 to a local gunsmith in San Jose, CA. Yes, CA.

This guy had his two sons in the shop and he stopped and said, "Take a look, this is the gun of a gentleman." Well, I hardly qualify, but appreciated how he showed me how to cock the forearm ejectors on the corner of his wood workbench. The sons went back to their work on black guns.

Moral to the story, if it does not fit, do not force it, post on this site and find the much less costly answer.
