3" 20 Gauge Question

We're the 20ga offered with 3" chambers? Thanks...

Dean Romig 05-09-2016 08:41 PM

By special order only. "Three-inch" chambers were not a 'standard' chambering but Parker Bros. is known to have made a number of twenty-gauge guns chambered for the three-inch shell. These chambers generally measure 2 7/8" - the practice of chambering a set of barrels 1/8" shorter than the shell they were designed to shoot carried into their "three-inch" guns as well.

Sorry if I was not clear. Question is about 3" 20ga. Reproductions. Were they produced?
Thanks.

My mistake for not paying closer attention to the sub-forum you posted under... sorry.

Yes, I had one and both the 26" barrels and the 28" barrels were for 3" shells.

Dean, are you sure about that? Most 20-ga. 26" guns have 2 3/4" chambers and the 28" guns have 3" chambers.

Frankly Greg, no, I'm not sure about that, I'd have to ask the current owner of the gun.

Maybe he'll pop on here with the answer.

I'm still learning - had previously thought that all the 20 gauge reproductions were 3" chambers...

I have two 20 ga guns, both 26" bbls are 2 3/4". I believe the 2 bbl 20 gauge guns had the 28" bbl chamber3" shells.

Yup, all 28" 20 gauges seem to be bored and marked 3". A 26" 20 gauge with 3" chambers would be a special order gun. All the Repro catalogs can be access in our "album" section.

We all know there have been misprints and mistakes made in some of the Parker Reproduction brochures. Did you happen to notice the 28" 28-ga. chamber length in the brochure above?
