Opportunity to buy my first Parker

1 Attachment(s)
After many dreams and much analysis I'm ready to take the plunge! I've just come across a 1908 DH (I believe) 26" 12 gauge that was restored about 20 years ago by a Robert Daugherty of Pittsburgh.

Does anyone know anything about this gentleman and his work or have any insight to ease my nerves about this possible first for me?

Thanks in advance for your input!

Thanks, Parkerman. No one is familiar with Mr. Daugherty's work? How about thoughts on the gun based on the picture?

The picture is only one, and it's poor enough that no one can make much of it. It is a Parker, that's for sure.

Something looks funny in the grip cap area and the case coloring looks off...but I can only hold my computer monitor sideways for so long so I'm not looking at it that closely.

If you are not buying the gun to sell, and you like it that is all that matters, as to the old saying "to each his own" enjoy your gun, I have a grade 2 that has been back to the factory as per letter 10 times and it looks like crap but you know I will never part with it just something about a gun that trys to survive with a little help, Gary

Yea, I know I hear the crowd now do not get sentimental about guns! but something about this gun it connects with me every time I pick it up! Gary

It is a nice looking D-Grade. It appears to be refinished but was done very nicely.

Robbie;
Is that a skeletal trigger guard? Quite interesting. If it's an original 26" gun you don't run into many of them. A Parker letter form Chuck Bishop might prove enlightening.

Dean Romig 05-05-2016 05:52 PM

Daryl, the gun is on a reflective surface.

DUH! Thanks Dean- guess I need a beverage to clear my brain.:eek:
But... A skeletal trigger guard would be neat. My next (and only) upgrade will have one.
