AYA #2 Forend
 

Hi All, My Aya #2 12 gauge had been standing in the gun cab. for awhile so I decided to give it a clean.. but I could not get the forend to come off. I finally broke the gun open a very tiny bit and the forend came right off.
Can any of the forum experts give me a prognosis and possible cure. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Attached are a couple of pics of said patient. Regards. HV

Some of those forends strongly resist removal. I use a polyethylene wedge made by a member of this Board ( Dean I believe). It is slipped between forend tip and barrels and gently and safely separates those stubborn forends from the barrel set.
One of the guns I need this device for is a AYA #2 16 GA.

Mr. Verri:
It appears as though your gun has an Anson push-rod forend arrangement. The best solution to your problem is to take or send it to a competent double gunsmith and have it adjusted correctly so wedging the unit off is unnecessary.
Such corrections are often required on Spanish guns...

I just saw this. I had a similar problem on 2 Spanish doubles. In both cases the push rod was screwed in to the bolt too far (bad fitting!). The button on the end of the rod would bottom out before the bolt was clear of the barrel lug. The fix was to unscrew the rod a turn or two. I fixed one by making a new rod and properly fitting it. I believe blue Loctite fixed the other. In any case do not pry the forend off as this can lead to disaster (don't ask how I know this).

Your diagnosis of the cause of the problem was spot on!
I loosened the set screw on the rod, turned rod 1 turn counterclockwise lengthening the throw slightly, retightened set screw and problem resolved.
