Auction/Sale recomendations
Anybody with experience (good or bad) selling Parkers at auctions?
I have bought Parkers and other guns through Amoskeag, Bonhams & Butterfield and James Julia but never sold that way. Any experience or advice appreciated since I am selling off things I don't want to end up in a pawn shop when my time runs out. John T |
Set a price, let it be known what you have and take them to Vintagers and the Southern. Good guns get known and attract interest.

I agree with Bruce.
I sold a few guns through an auction house and all I can say is, they sold. I didn't think I did all that well, a bit below average and then lost their cut. I was not unhappy but I wasn't pleased either. Its a good place to unload if that is the goal but I wouldn't expect to get top dollar at auction. If its a top dollar gun, make sure to set a price you must get for it to sell (no all auctions allow that). |
I agree with Robin and Bruce, on a good day you may get that top dollar on a good day or on a bad day, like this year you will not... I would consign the gun with one of the top dealers and go that route, same money (sometimes less ) and you control your price and some of the auction houses you have to be very very carefull of:shock:

John: All of the above is spot on. I too have bought from the auction houses that you mention plus Rock Island, J.C. Devine, Charlton Hall & Greg Martin. The only time that I sold through one I wasn't too pleased with the results. You might want to post a couple on www.doublegunshop.com and see what kind of action you get there.

Do Parkers sell better at the Vintages with "Letters"?

I think letters help all Parkers no matter where you sell them.
