VHE 28 Gauge

So I have been contacted about buying a fairly late model 28 VHE
All original condition
I have been looking for a 28 for a number of years
I go to the serial number book and it shows a 12 gauge 30" vhe
As you can imagine this isn't a cheap parker price wise
I was wondering is any one had any insight into this all?

Thanks for any help

How "fairly late" is it?
You might want to PM me the serial number because I study late guns.
You also might want to order a REAL letter from Chuck Bishop. He has the real records that are better than the "book".

My insight is that the owner sent you the wrong serial number.

Excellent point Bill. It could be a simple transposition.

And the other thing, the book is wrong many, many times :cuss: Jack Puglisi use say to me, the book was great most of the time and a "curse" other times , you could have a gun right as rain (as he use to say) but the book says a gun has 30" barrels but the gun you are looking at has 28" and they have not been cut with the end of rib matting, but now the gun is cursed because the book says so  There are many misprints in "The Book". Just food for thought.

I had a good one several years ago. The book showed the gun, a 12ga DH with 30" and the gun in front of me had 32", properly serialized and to the frame. I bought it and the letter indicated the following. Gun sent back a year after ownership to have the original barrels cut to 24". A year later, the gun was again sent back to have another set of barrels made in 32". So in this case, the book was right, and what I was looking at was right, you just never know until an actual letter is generated.

I have heard the same thing
In this case the Parker story lists all the 28 bore guns Parker made
This gun isn't listed there either
Again thanks for your help

So what's the S/N????

I'll tell you if the "book" is wrong. Depending on how late the gun is, I would have the stock book or the IBM card, or both. It's also possible that Griffin & Howe will have records.

Chuck - it is a 1930 gun. That explains a couple of things about the records.
