Can a 1928 vintage VH 12 1/12 frame safely shoot sporting clay ammo such as 2/34 dr/1 oz loads? If not, why not?

Don`t see why not... I shot 2 3/4 -1 1/8 oz. trap load in 1905 GH with Damascus barrels...

If the gun's barrels are not too thin from honing, dented, bulged, or otherwise suspect with regard to normal safety, and chambers not dangerously lengthened, there is probably no reason why such a load cannot be used.

I shoot Winchester white box 2 3/4 dram 1 oz loads all the time. Damascus or fluid steel.

Glad to see you are having fun with your new old gun.

Damascus G's are the great bargain in high quality shot guns.

I regularly shoot either Win AA or Rem STS, they both have a 1 1/8 oz. 1200 fps. load that you can shoot all day. I think Federal has the same load in paper too.

Thank you all. Shooting this old gun gives me great pleasure. Nice to have confirmation I'm doing no harm.
