8 ga. Bonehill
A search of the threads does not turn up any information on 8 ga. Bonehills. I ran across one this week that is available. It is off face and the barrels have been cut at about 27". It is a hammer gun with Damascus barrels. The wood and frame are OK. I had only a few minutes to handle it at a house. I was given time to think about it and make an offer. Advice please.

gary i hope you wind up with this old 8 ga if you do please post pictures of it...good luck on the gun....charlie

Gary, I would not spend much for a cut barrelled gun, 8 gauge or other gauges as you will have a lot of trouble getting your money back if you go to sell it. Cut barrels destroy any collector value and 27 inchers may not fully burn whatever charge you use. Off face further reduces any value.

Price is everything on 8ga's. They are not that easy to come by. If you can live with the cut barrels and the price is right than you might want to consider it. It will cost two to three hundred dollars to have it tightened up properly.

gary did you get the big 8 ga....charlie

8 ga,
Charlie,
I don't think it's going to happen. I'm going back with a friend next week to look at 60 or 70 decoys and will bring it up. Maybe we can do a package deal. I don't want to offer more than I already have for just the shotgun. |
