Placement of shield
Hello all, I have restocked a VH Parker 16, installed the buttplate, and now need to install the shield ( wood fitted, not competely sanded, safety in and working, all internals in and working properly ). The old stock had the bottom sliced off and a piece glued back to it for some unknown reason. I asked for the slice of wood from the guy and he had it, however when he sent it to me he cut the shield out in a block and I do not have another Parker here for measurements. Would someone be so kind as to give me the measurement of the placement of the shield? I hate to be so anal retentive but I'm freakish on detail. Thanks so much, Jake ( Jerry )

If it's a pistol grip, I've always found the shield to be at the halfway point between the heel of the butt and the grip cap. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Jake,
On my GH, from the toe of the wood (not the buttplate) to the center of the shield is 4 1/8 inch. Hope this helps. Chuck |

Jake (Jerry): I measured placement of four VH stock shields. Tolerance seemed to be 1/8 inch variation. From the bottom pointed tip of the shield to the bottom of the butt stock wood (not to the butt plate): Two are at 3 3/4 inch and two are at 3 7/8 inch. It will be interesting to hear what a few others have to say. A message before 5 am ! Is that before or after the first cup of coffee?
Cheers, Jack (John) - my parents kindly gave me three names and then called me Jack from the get go. |
On my 16 VH with 14 1/4" pistol grip the bottom tip of the shield is exactly 4" from the toe end of wood.
