barrel wt.

The unstruck barrel wt. is stamped on each set of Parker barrels. Is there an average Wt. lost when the barrels are filed and fitted to the receiver ?

Some here say it is about the weight of the forend...

I don't understand how that would possibly fit into the equation.... coincidence?

Barrel Weights

I have checked the difference between the stamped barrel weights and the actual barrel weights of numerous guns and have come up with these results:

8 gauge loss: 14 ounces
10 gauge loss: 10.5 ounces
12 gauge loss: 6 to 10 ounces
20 gauge loss: 8.5 ounces

I did weigh the barrels together with the splinter forearms and they vary from -3.5 ounces to +.5 ounces from the stamped barrel weight. None equaled the exact stamped weight.
