Hello from Virginia!

New member; just purchased a Parker Bros. double barrel with rabbit ear hammers. It's just wall hanger for me but hammers pull back and trigger releases them (with me controlling the hammers).

Don't know much about them but I bought this one and a Colt 1878 double hammer side by side last week. No website I found for the Colt.

Date on my Parker is 1866, but that may be a patent date. Only thing it's missing I would like to replace is the front sight. Cool gun nevertheless.

1866 is a patient date. The S/N is found on the trigger guard, receiver flats, barrel lug, and forarm

Kinda what I figured. Looks old though. How many years did they make this type?

Can you post some good quality pictures of your Parker?

Yes I can do that, but it may be a week or so. Bought it to hang in a cabin we've restored; I'm hoping no one messes with it since we're only there usually on weekends.

Funny, started out a week ago looking for a beat up single shot like an Iver Johnson or H&R, and ended up buying a Marlin over/under 12 ga, and the Colt and Parker I mentioned in my first post.

i'd trade you a beat up single shot Iver Johnson for them, its a small bore and the repair to the crack in the stock has held for 90 years :rotf:

looking forward to the pictures- it may be more than a wall hanger depending on condition, post the Colt's pics as well- we have a forum for other doubles.

Wow! That's tempting- - a jenuwine Iver Johnson is what I started looking for- - - - I'll get back to ya!

Thanks for the welcome! Unfortunately my cabin is a ways away in Montebello, VA. You may know where that is or may not. It's the home of Crabtree Falls, where every year someone gets their 5 minutes of fame by falling off the rocks and killing themselves.

Do they get drunked up and fall? never heard of that one! gary
