East Lake NC 1932

Old one turned up this week in my Aunt's papers. Her first Husband, Bill Morrisette, Played Pro Baseball for the Philadelphia Athletics and Detroit Tigers. She never said much about him. My Father always said he was a Sportsman and took him along on Hunting and Fishing trips.

Photo is marked on the back "East Lake NC 1932" At the time East Lake was known for Moonshine, you hear more about the mountains and stills, large operations in the east as well. East Lake is still very isolated. O3 Springfield right looks like a Remington Model 11 left, and a big pistol. Ready for anything.

My grandfather always carried his Fox Sterlingworth 12 with buckshot in one barrel and bird shot in the other. Kind of covered anything that he encountered.

Most of that area is a wildlife refuge now, either side of the Alligator River. Federal government is re introducing Red Wolves. Near the refuges some good Bear and Deer hunting. Above East lake Goose hunting, depending on weather up North. So far this year not many Geese. I did see some big Snow Goose flocks in fields passing by last week.
