Larry D.

Just wanted to post a note to Thank Larry Delgrego for the nice afternoon my Wife and I had yesterday ! I had decided some time ago to take a couple of my Parker guns up to show Larry and ask his opinion on them ,although we had never met ,I call the shop occasionally and bother him with Parker questions and he has always been very welcoming to any questions Parker and is even more so in person ! The one gun in particular is the BHE 410 Upgrade his Father and Robert Runge did for Otis Odum ,which I happen to be the care taker for at the moment ,Larry seemed genuinely pleased to have it in hand and get a look at her. We drove up to New York early in the morning and arrived just after lunch and Larry spent most of the afternoon with us looking over the guns which I had taken and also looking over guns in the shop , some personal items of Larry's and many many very interesting Parker items ,he is in fact a Fine Gentleman and although My Wife really isn't into guns we both very much enjoyed listening to stories and facts about his Family and all things Parker ,Thanks again for the nice day Larry , very well worth the 800 miles round trip ! Russ :)

Visiting the Larry DelGrego & Sons shop is something every Parker collector should do some time. It is/they are Parker gun history. I found it extra special to spend time in the office with Babe listening to his stories and looking at his memorabilia. Just around the corner is the Remington Arms museum and their store if it's still open. There is some neat stuff to look at there including a Trojan Skeet gun prototype. My few visits have involved near 600 mile round trips but they were always great days.

I want to ad that Lawrence has always been very accommodating, we arrange a day for me to arrive and he took care of some small issues on a few guns while I waited. His mother even came into the shop one day and brought both of us a sandwich and chips. That was unexpected, probably a one off of event but sure made me feel welcome.

Pete .that's exactly what we did ,I spoke with Larry a couple of days in advance and made arrangements and headed off at 4:30 in the morning and had quite a day of it ,couldn't have enjoyed it more although I missed out on the sandwich :rotf: !!!!!!!!!

I had the same experience as Russ and Pete although when I stopped in on my way to Maine, Larry was on vacation but Babe was waiting for me. He told me stories of his involvement with Parker, showed me around the shop, and showed me some of the guns in the back room. What an enjoyable experience, I asked for his recommendations for a good lunch meal and he suggested an Italian restaurant in town and it was excellent. We then toured the Remington Museum but the director wasn't available. I had hoped to be able to get an up close inspection of the Parker ledgers. I did get to meet Larry at the HoF banquet and he tells the same stories as his dad.

Fine people, Myself, my brother, and Daryl Middlebrook visited in 2012, should be on every Parker guys list of things to do! I know he is a little north of the Mason Dixon line but the hospitality was Southern! Gary

I met Larry at the HOF banquet. He was standing alone at the bar and when I saw his name tag I said " Hey, you're Larry Del Grego". We spent about 10 minutes chatting. He was genuinely friending and engaging. Next time I head that way I'm going to make arrangements to visit.
