Gh with Parker Steel barrels
I have a question, does anyone have a GH with the top rib marker PARKER STEEL, not PARKER SPEC. STEEL OR PARKER SPECIAL STEEL?
|
Phil, The Parker Steel rib legend is typically found on PH grade guns with fluid steel barrels. That is not to say that a G grade gun couldn't have been re barreled by the factory with a lesser designated barrel set.
|
I have a GH with Vulcan barrels and have a friend with an 1897 AAH that came with Whitworth Steel barrels and had an additional four sets of Vulcan barrels.
|
OK, here's the best. An A1 Special 20 gauge with 32" Vulcan Steel barrels. Another interesting example is a solid rib DH (from the factory, now missing) with 32" Parker Special Steel barrels, and another set of ventilated rib 30" Titanic Steel barrels.

I have in my possession a 1-frame 12 ga. PH with Laminated Steel barrels (this gun would normally have been manufactured with Twist Steel barrels) and the barrel flat under the right barrel is appropriately stamped with the T with crescents above and below. The rib is roll stamped Damascus Steel... but, once again, the barrel tubes are definitely Laminated Steel.
Incidentally, the PGCA records support this anomaly. . |
Thank you for the feedback.
