LC Smith aspires to greatness
In the November 2015 issue of The American Rifleman see what an LC Smith Specialty Grade would like to look like. Page 83, read photo description at top of page then look at pictures. No offense LC guys.

I caught that yesterday and broke out laughing as soon as my mind figured out what I was looking at. Suppose that was an inside joke, someone knowing that little about shotguns, or just an honest mistake? Still funny, whatever the case... :rotf:

That is an altra rare LC smith grade that was intended to look like a Parker.

I can sympathize with the author or who ever proof read the article because the same thing happened to me. Back in November 2012, an article was written by a friend of mine that writes a monthly column in Shotgun Sports Magazine. He knew that I was involved with the PGCA doing research letters and thought it would make a great article on the history of Parkers and how you can get information on a particular Parker you may own. He interviewed me and I sent him pictures of my Parkers to include in the article. I asked to proof read the article but he replied back that he had already sent the finished copy to the publisher. I couldn't wait till I received my copy but to my amazement, the first page of the article had a color photograph of a LC Smith gun! All the other pictures were of my Parkers. When I told him that was not a Parker, he said he had taken a bunch of pictures of guns at my first SxS shoot and liked this particular picture, not knowing it wasn't a Parker. Nothing you can do once it's published but just grin and bear it!

January 1973, Guns & Ammo did an article by Mason Williams on Fox shotguns and misspelled his name "Ainsley" in the title and throughout the article.

The AR author that screwed up the pictures is a victim of the National Firearms Museum website that described this gun as a Smith. Unfortunately, AR does not have web addresses listed for their employees or authors, so a correction addressed to the author is a difficult process. As we all know, AR isn't a shotgun publication.
