Looking at buying the Blanch pictured below. 12 bore 30 " with perfect bores. Any insight to what the marking are for? It is a lightly used very tight gun.

Thanks

The gun has Birmingham proofs with reproof prior to 1954. Originally proofed at 13 bore, chambered for standard 12-bore cartridge. Left barrel had choke.

It has been refinished, but not badly. Actually nice. If barrel walls are over .020 min., and price is reasonable, it's a nice gun from what I can see...

Blanch was a good maker, but most of his stuff came to London from Birmingham. Not that's a bad thing.

John C thanks for your reply.

I bought the Blanch today and think it is a great gun for the money. Right bore 0.726 no choke, Left bore 0.723 with 0.23 choke. Min wall thickness is 0.032 and 0.055 in the last 2" at choke. You can see the barrels were browned, in this case orange. That is the one thing i will change. Does anyone have an original English gun with Damascus pattern and color for me to reference?

Another double gun in the house....happy days!

That is a beautiful gun. Did you buy it from a private party or dealer?

Bought it from a shop. Had been on the rack for some time and just happened to walk in the day it had a large reduction from the consignor.
