Odd dog engraving on DHE-16

I was looking at a DHE-16 on guns international item# 100605145 I would past it her but do not know how... )-: Dogs look like a cross of a setter and pointer ??? Looks odd to me...never saw one like it that I remember anyway. Maybe it was a Remington era gun? Take a look....Its a real nice gun for sure in my favorite gauge. thanks all SXS ohio

Beautiful gun. But like most is overpriced, in my opinion.

Maybe a little grayhound mixed in there too?

They can't all be perfect. I remember a very well known local engraver telling me about how he had to pick up the engraving on a Parker years ago and one of the dogs had 5 legs.

Probably one of Frederick Anschutz' "decidedly male" dogs

Nice desirable gun. I like the detail on the dog but significantly overpriced with the low condition JMHO.

The gun in question is a 202XXX gun made in 1923-24 when Frederick Anschutz was Chief Engraver. The dogs on this gun have features that could be attributed to him but there were other engraving contractors who worked for Parker at the time, including the young Bob Runge, (who may have been influenced by Anschutz' style this early in his engraving career) and Kupfer as well.

I have seen a few Parker dogs that appear to have been engraved by the same hand.

Low condition, David? The description says 25 to 30 percent color. It must be on the bottom that is not pictured.

Bill
IMHO 25% in not high condition so must be low, not no, condition?

Looks like a well conditioned lean setter on the right side to me, not one of those "big slavering" Ryman dogs.
