Define Beautiful
I enjoy a beautiful gun stock more than any other aesthetic aspect of a shotgun.
I'm not sure why but I kind of like the stock below. Your thoughts would be appreciated. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...psdgwwbhdu.jpg http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...ps2bwwerll.jpg |

I'm a gunstock wood lover too. The stock you show is nice, but a little plain for my taste. I like lots of figure and contrast in gunstock wood.
Below are pictures of some of my favorite wood on my guns. The first picture is of, left to right, my 20 ga. and 28 ga. Garbis, and my 28 ga. Parker Repro. Second pic is my 12 ga Garbi, third pic is my 12 ga SSS Parker Repro. I used to own (sold it years ago) a 20 ga 2 bbl Parker Repro. set (26" Q1/Q2, 26" IC/Mod) with the most amazing piece of very dark, heavily burled walnut I've ever seen, hand picked for me by Jack Skeuse; I also have a 20 ga. Beretta 687 Diamond Pigeon EELL with eye popping figure, but unfortunately no picture of either gun. |
I agree with Joe - the wood in OP's picture is bit plain for my taste as well...

This might be high on some people's "why bother" list but it sure caught my eye, big time. The work was done by Hal Hartley in North Carolina, sometime in the 70's. 16ga, 28", IC&F.

I thought this was interesting wood on my Alex Henry. It is a '3rd Quality' rifle made in 1875.

Everybody's eye is different but I am drawn to American Walnut on American guns.
