Hammer Gun Challenge

I just want to remind everyone about the hammer gun event Sunday moring starting about 8:30 am. We need more shooters in this event and sadly we have never won it. We come up a little short every year. The winner is determined my adding up the scores for the top 10 shooters. The team with the highest score wins. Bring out those hammer guns and if you don't have one, borrow one. There is no event two, you only shoot once. This is allot of fun, I hope to see you there.

Everyone should sign up for the hammer gun event. There are always guns to borrow if you don't own one. It is only 25 birds.

They should add some challenge to the hammer gun event and specify black powder only. Then you'd see some real body twisting as the shooter tries to find the second bird around or beneath the cloud of smoke. :corn:

Hammer Gun Event

The Challenge became three doubles at five stands a couple of years. There has also been an informal black powder challenge for two years.
The hammer challenge does not have a pre lim qualifier and the best ten individual scores are counted. No pressure and a lot of fun. You can shoot my Bogardus gun if you wish.

Best, Austin

The Hammer Gun Challenge has been enough of a challenge for PGCA shooters the last few years without adding black powder to the mix. My personal challenge is that my favorite hammer gun lost a hammer screw this week and I don't know where I can get one by next Sunday.

Bill, I think they are the same thread as the screw that holds the handle on the faucet on your kitchen sink. C'mon Bill, necessity is the mother of invention....

Hammer screw

Bill; I obtained a nice D hammer with an ordinary screw and washer holding one hammer in place. I had a spare D hammer screw so I replaced it. I have the repair screw here; it is yours when I see you at the southern.
Hammer screws are 4 40 thread , most commercial 4 40 screws have too small a head to do the job, but a large washer fills the bill.

Best Austin
