This is for those who like Damascus barreled guns.
I do apologize; it was my intention to put in lots of new pictures of Damascus barrels, but the USB ports on my computer are all out. I'm waiting on a new computer that is overdue now, but until it arrives I can show nothing new. The new pics will include an A grade Lefever, a couple Parker Bernards, a Damascus Union pump gun barrel, and several Parker 2 and 3 blade Damascus where a person can see joints and one where the barrels are clearly different Damascus. Until then, here are some older pictures of re-colored barrels that were shown a couple years ago. |

New Photos for those interested in Damascus.
Several grade 2 Parker Damascus. Details of joints. L C Smith A couple Bernards. Both 12, one 3 frame, the other 2. I've never seen mismatched segments in a Bernard and I've looked at maybe 25 of them. A Union pump gun. Made with at least 3 different segements. The most mismatched and segmented one I have seen. Union was a low price shotgun. Unions and Mod 97's were made with Damascus. The one 97 I have seen was consistant fine Damascus. This is the only Union I have seen. Maybe there are more damascus repeaters, don't know. Lefever A grade. Uncommon. This one is ordinary fine, high number blade damascus, not chain or Bernard. My opinion is that lower cost damascus barrels have more mismatched Damascus patterns and joints, maybe because shorter or scrap segments were used in the manufacture. No historical record of that , just based on my observations and theories. |
Hi Bruce,
I am going to have Keith Kearcher refinish the damascus barrels on my 20GA GH. What is the correct terminology for the requesting the finish as shown in these pictures? I definitely do not want a brown finish. Sincerely yours, Merv |
Merv,
Just sent you a private message. Destry |
Parker grade 2 damascus
Wow very nice pics posted....I have a GH-16 Mnf. 1901 with a great set of pit free damascus barrels. I have sent the gun to Brad Bachelder for refinish of the damascus. I hope they come back looking like these! He is also replacing the two missing ivory beads with correct real ivory. It also had a chunk missing from the lower part of the butt plate that he is also going to repair with a saved piece from other plate. I never had a good damascus parker in small gauge....(-: Looking forward to owning and hunting wild roosters in Kansas with it. The barrels are choked .019 and .028 with 2.5" RST-s in 5# shot it should work excelent!!!...(-: I will post pictures of the gun after its return....thanks all Kenny Graft SXS ohio...

Kenny, I had Brad do some barrels- you're going to be happy. He does nice work. They look as good as Dale Edmonds who also did some barrels for me. Paul
