1907 GH blued parts
Hello again,
My first question today is, What parts on my 1907 GH were originally blued? I think the barrels, trigger guard and triggers were blued but was there any other parts blued? I especially want to know about the for-end release lever assembly and or any other parts like screws etc. Second question is, what type of bluing was used? Rust blue? Browning? Hot blue or what? TIA Dave |
Hi Dave - the barrels were rust-blued and I believe the trigger guard and triggers were nitre-blued. The forend latch would have been color case-hardened as would the butt plate screws. The screws for the forend iron and forend tip were nitre-blued. I believe this to be accurate - if it's not I'm sure someone will be along to correct it.

Correct on most points Dean. However, ALL forend hardware was case colored along with the latch, tip and iron. Buttplate screws were sometimes blued and sometimes case colored actually.
SSBPs and their screws on such equipt guns were blued. Correct in that all blued parts other than the barrels were Nitre Blued. Triggers on guns below grade 3 were blued. If you ever see a Parker with a blued top lever and action screws... It is not correct. |
Well... I guess I stand corrected.
I was, however, referring to the Grade 2 gun (the topic of this thread) so I had not even included SSBP's in my discussion, or their screws. Nevertheless, Brian is correct in that the tip and latch were also color case hardened... but the OP didn't ask about those. :bigbye: |
I just thought I would expand into info on higher grades as well since we were talking about it.

Thanks guys. Great info! Question answered.

Trust me, if you want a Parker question answered this is the place to come
