Bringing out engraving

Just curious, been looking at some of the fine guns in the albums. I love how distinctive the engraving looks in those pictures. I have 2 guns a GH and a DH that have nice engraving but the patina is so dark that you have to hold them in the light to really see the details.

Is there anything that can be done to bring out the engraving or lighten the patina a little. Not a huge deal I like the guns regardless. I have tried bore cleaner pad and reminders oil on the gh but it didn't do much. Thx for your time as always.

Ultrasonic cleaning and some brush cleaning with acetone may help of the issue is crud packed into the engraving. If that is not the issue then there is nothing that can be done since it is likely wear to the engraving or just lightly cut engraving.

I have had some frames that I swore would need engraving recut, but after the frame was annealed, everything looked good. As the annealing blew out all the crap packed in the engraving. Of course this is something that is only done if a frame is going to be re-colored.

It's more just how dark the metal is around the engraving then lightness of the, actual engraving
