Interesting Bruce, your gun? Are they described as heel & toe plates in the letter?
|
The Redding AHE .410 had factory looking heel and toe plates. They were probably made from the original skeleton butt plate when the stock was shortened for some yungun. The gun had several Remington repair codes indicating return to the factory more than once.

A friend has a nice #3 frame D grade with the stock shortened to 13 1/2". The SSBP was fitted to the gun again, but being to large it was roughly filed to fit. I wish they had the presence of mind to do something like what is shown by Bruce.

Yup, Harry, the conversion to heel and toe plates is a great solution when shortening a skeleton buttplate gun to a shorter length. Of course, no shortening of skeleton buttplate guns will be contemplated fron now on, I hope.
