16GA Trojan Information
 

Hello PGCA,

I am a new member, so I suppose this is a hello post as well. :bigbye:

I picked up a Parker 16GA Trojan as a part of a small collection that had a few other items I really wanted.

I don't have much knowledge regarding parkers, so, here I am.

In the interest of full disclosure, I will probably be posting this gun for sale in the near future, as I don't have much need for it and it seems a bit short to me (I'm 6'5" with some long monkey arms :rotf:)

I have already checked and it appears there is no information available on which to base a research letter. I do know that it was produced in 1919.

To me, it looks un-restored and un-touched, but I am admittedly no expert in these matters.

I would really appreciate anybody's input on this gun's condition and what it may be worth.

All of the numbers match on the gun.

The barrels are 28".

Also, if anyone is or knows of a Parker or competent doubles gunsmiths out here in Arizona, I would like to pay someone to give the gun a thorough once-over to make sure it is all up to snuff before I put it up for sale.

Thanks for posting good photos of the gun.

It has its issues here and there, but overall it is in pretty good shape with a good amount of original condition remaining.

You don't really have to take it anywhere to have it inspected. It is in proper using condition and will make someone very happy, as is.

Nice gun but I would say those 'nicks' are borderline 'gouges'.

You should provide the chokes and barrel lengths. All in all its a fairly nice gun. I would say with the few issues that I see its Probable about $1500.00 Those chuncks gone out of the stock really detract from the value JMHO.

Wayne and Fishtail, thank you, I don't disagree at all regarding the gouges, wish I at least had the story that went with them :)

I will measure the barrels and see what I can do to measure the chokes later tonight (I will have to do some reading to learn how to identify the chokes).

Chokes can only be properly measured with a bore gauge so that the constriction from bore to muzzle can be read. But, given the era that your Trojan was built, the bore diameter should not be too far off from modern nominal dimensions. So a drop in guage will get you in the ballpark.
