Julia's auction any surprises?

I was a little surprised the A-1 special brought $57.5K it had a bunch of problems based on the description my guess was close to the $32.5 low estimate. Good for the consignor in Italy. I was not surprised the AHE special order did not sell, I thought the estimate was rich. The BHE was a nice gun that I had trouble putting it down in Vegas, nice clean honest gun that sold for a strong number. Small bores still shock me in terms of selling price but the 20ga DHE's seemed like nice examples and strong prices. I think the GHE pair and the grade 2 hammer gun were way over estimated in my opinion. Fun auction. How about you what is your post game analysis???
Did anyone add a treasure to your collection??

Regarding the Grade 2 lifter.... It would be extremely difficult to find another gun like it in such high condition - in my opinion it is a benchmark gun in many respects. It was obviously very seldom used.

Wait a minute now. Before I enter this discussion, please tell us of your conquests. The biggest missed number was the A-1 Special Trap upgrade that hammered very quickly, probably too quickly, and at a very low price, and my friend, who was on the phone with the auction and missed his bid, called me and was devastated. I didn't have the heart to tell him that he should have been on the internet, as I was. What do the rest of you think of the A-1 Special upgrade that hammered at $5500? I think the item number was 2570.

Interesting story... The 20g. DH with 30" barrels and factory gold inlay on the bottom... It had an aftermarket BTFE on it.

I had THE original forend wood and tip for it. I was able to let the buyer know that I have it and it will soon be reunited with the gun.

Brian: I would like hear that story, very good.

If I may ask what did the GHE pair bring ?

Bill Murphy 03-17-2015 06:08 PM

Did not sell. You may go on Julia's website and make an offer. Let us know how you do.

The A1S upgrade had spectacular engraving and if it went for $5500 it undersold by a large amount IMHO.

What's that about great minds? (Terrible things to waste???)Bill/Dean, you nailed it. Lot 2570 had to be thee "sleeper" deal of the day!! What a classy clay crusher! The engraving and fence filing alone would cost how much today? Not to mention the wait. I would love to see that one show up at this year's BO-WHOOP. 14 3/4" LOP....1 1/4" comb....1 3/4" heel....8 lbs 7 ozs.....DT's, extractors. Can I see a pair, please? Come to Poppa!!! Someone scored a real honey. Congrats.

Elmer's BHE dbl trap had this Fox guy breathing in a paper bag too.
Hey wait a minute , what am I muttering about? Can I edit this? How do I delete....Time to get back on the right side of the tracks. :crying:
