Missouri snow's
1 Attachment(s)
Just got back from a long weekend snow goose hunt in Missouri. Wow what a great time! I went with a co-worker and friend who has been going out there for 13 years now. He and his hunting buddies have these things figured out. They had the geese decoying in like ducks! Speaking of ducks, Saturday morning I litterally almost had a drake pintail knock my hat off while laying in a ground blind:shock:
I took a Remington SP10 thinking this would be like other snow goose hunts I have been on shooting at passing birds from 60 yds plus. I also took a VH 12 just hoping I could maybe get chance with it. After the first morning hunt and seeing how close we were able to get to these birds I went to the VH and never looked back. I was able to shoot a double with it on two blue's Saturday, and then killed a banded Ross with it yesterday(Thank you goose Gods) |

What part of missouri?
Where were you hunting?

We were in NW Missouri, a little town called Fillmore near Savannah.

Know it well. We had plenty of birds this year. Come often and get more of them , they are overrunning their Arctic breeding grounds and are already heading north.

I bought an SP-10 in 89 when they first came out with a 26" barrel for turkey . Wish I still had it now that geese have my intrest . Very nice trip !

That's Awesome!!

Nice! I've been chomping at the bit to make a road trip up to NoDal. Geese were there then snow drove them south again. Just sort of playing the waiting game.
