Griffin & Howe information
 

So....I received word today my research letter is done. Unfortunately the only available info was from the IBM card, but the good news is information exist from Griffin & Howe. I contacted Bob Beach at G&F. He has responded, and what I know so far is the gun does show up in the records of Abercrombie & Fitch, was received into inventory October of 1936 and was sold in their New York store later that same year. The model is described as a grade GHE Skeet, and the buyer was a lady.
I will most likely be perusing additional information and letter from G&H.
My question is has anyone else gotten letters and additional info from G&H? And if so are they glad they did?
I'm pretty excited there is more info for this gun, and that the gun was purchased by a lady (most likely for her husband) but maybe I'm over thinking this and it's not that big of a deal.

I was amazed at the amount of information I received about my GHE. The gun was bought and sold three times within a year at A&F. I was provided with the names of the three buyers and any personal information about the buyers that is available on public records. The research shows copies of the actual A&F log books showing what A&F paid for the gun, how much it sold for, all of the guns specifications, and modifications that were done to the gun, and more. There is about about ten pages of information.
Get the info, you won't be sorry.

You won't believe the range and depth of information Bob normally supplies in his "research letters". Truly amazing... he leaves no stone unturned. You will be very impressed.

You will be very happy with your letter. Bob does a phenomenal job but he has REALLY good records to work with.

As already recommended, definitely worth the extra 50 bucks or so to have Bob Beach do his thing.

He did one for me for a high grade Fox. A lot of info about the buyer, his family, some pictures.

It is worth ever penny. Bob does GREAT work on the letters. I have had him do several for me and I have been amazed at what he comes up with. Do it.

I will have to agree with everyone about Bob Beach and his letters I could not be happier with his attention to details.

Bob amazed me with what he found on my gun. I had the pleasure of meeting Bob at a local shoot. You could'nt meet a nicer gentleman.

If you really want to become " one " with the gun, and it's previous owners, go for the letter. Bob has researched three Francottes for me and the information he provided gave me a connection to those guns that I had never developed with any other in my gun room.

As a student of history, I long ago discovered the value in what these posts suggest: That to me at least, a major portion of any fine double gun's worth is the human connection it allows me to make with its original owner.

Not all of my guns have allowed me to trace that history. But those that have, have permitted me to touch the lives of many great men from the past. Poets, business tycoons, statesmen, adventurers, and even Presidents.

I'm humbled to touch the same stock and sight down the same barrels as they did. Thus, their guns are not just guns. They are time machines.
