Former Parker New York Salesroom gun. This is an early 1885 manufacture. Later that year, Parker transitioned from a smooth top rib to the familiar rib matting, and this gun was sent back to the factory for rib matting, then returned to the showroom.

Higher grade external hammer guns have four pivot pins of the action to the side plate whereas lesser grades have three, making the hammer action more rigid in the higher grade guns.

Shown with a replica Parker Shell Top case.

What is the serial number Bruce?
I can see the rib matting- very neat.

Bruce: Thanks for sharing this and all the others you go to the trouble of showing. Good info also. Just checked my Parker hammer gun and it only has 3 pins :crying: I still love mine though :). Bob

Great gun Bruce. Where did you find that awesome case.

Mike Franzen 04-19-2015 04:03 PM

I would love a case like that … or I'd be just as happy with gun. Thanks Bruce for taking the time to take and post your pics.

The case is made by Kevin McPhail of St Mary, Missouri. I will be at the Southern SxS and will be bringing the gun to shoot. People can see the gun and case there. I'm sure Kevin would make a case, he has made four of these Parker shell top replicas, and he charges what a person would expect for top quality workmanship and materials.

Some of the guns I show here are mine, many others belong to a friend. We are glad to encourage Parker appreciation and collecting. We started with none, well, I inherited a well used PHE 16 from my grandfather, and everything else has been acquired here and there and learned by reading , studying the guns and listening to experts. It has been an interesting and rewarding journey, and I hope it continues.

I just ordered my Russell boots this weekend at the Brays Island show. Yeti cooler was last month. Huey case for the 8 gauge might take a while longer
