Some Trojan Details

8 Attachment(s)
I was inspecting my 16ga Trojan with a magnifier today (I know, I know, but it's too cold and snowy outside) and spotted a couple of nifty things. This is S/N 186773, 1919 cohort.

First, the lettering is nicely hand cut and the ruled underscribe continues up and around the forward screw in a nice arc. Second, the engraver has added a few flourishes to what is otherwise a very plain gun.

Also, on this gun someone continued (not perfectly) the grip checkering margin around the front of the grip to create a bit of a cap effect:

Last, there is a repair to the toe area and I'm wondering if any Trojan guns left the factory with defect repairs such as this:

i would not think any new Parker would leave the shop with a repaired stock

Very nice that it isn't worn. Still very sharp engraving with style and flair.

The style variations in the Parker name on Low grade guns is truly vast and very interesting in itself.

The light scribed guide line under the name is commonly seen on these guns.

The line around the grip is the first example of that I have seen.

I kinda like the engraving on the right side a little better than the left... or maybe it's juat the lighting.

Brian talks about the line cut into the wood around the extremity of the grip saying it is the first example he has seen of that and I agree, but also note that the grip is also beveled just beyond that line and that is also a first for me. That combination may be unique to that gun.

I am not sure I will agree with that statement when it comes to Trojans. I have a gun that I will post, a REMINGTON Trojan in 20 gauge that used to belong to Charlie Price that has a blemish that appears to be filled.
Of course I will have to beg Edgar or Dean to take a picture of it and frankly I am tired of groveling to those two for a while.
But I don't want to hijack this thread.
Allan that is a cool gun. Is it not the one you had at Addieville?

George :

Are you asking about the skeet gun?? No----I bought it November first 2014 and consigned it to Julia's on Nov. 10th on my way to Forest City ,Maine. I do not think I showed the gun to anyone.

allan.mclane 02-25-2015 02:03 PM

George, yes that's the gun I brought to Addieville. 26", M/F.

Too many Allans

No shame in pouring over your Parker on a rainy day. Sounds like a great way to spend the day.

What is the recoil pad? I have what looks to be the same on mine. I think it labeled a White Line.
