Bore tool Gauge..I.D. and choke tool
I hope it O.K. to post this...Anyway I have found new production bore gauges for sale by private guy who builds them to order. 16-12 or 28-20 His listing is on americantrapshooters.com in the for sale section. I have not seen or used one in person. Anyone who needs this tool, they look to be well made, I would make sure its returnable if not up to standard. thanks all SXS ohio....

Kenny,
Your post is okay since you are sharing information rather than trying to profit from it. You may also post a link to the add. I inquired about a 8 to 10 gauge bore gauge. Hope, of course not.... I finally bought one of Jon Hosford's bore gauges which measures from 8 to 28 gauge. With it I measured and logged into Excel the choke dimensions of 170 Parker barrels so far. I have Skeet's bore gauges but the Hosford compared to them is like a Parker to a LC Smith. :) Mark |
Mark....now you done it! L.C. guys might take offence. They might bend your gauge when your not looking or worse. (-: Im old guy....never learned to use one trigger let alone attach link or text...HMMM SXS ohio

Kenny,
Oh well... I own a half dozen of more Elsie's. They are good guns but in my opinion, based on observed design characteristics, the Parker design is better. I think that time has proven this. Further, maintainability clearly wasn't considered in the Smith design... Hmmm, maybe someone could write an article of the merits of the designs of Parker, LC Smith, and AH Fox guns? An article such as this would need to be objective. As for Internet basics, perhaps it is time to learn? Mark |
The seller who goes by the name of "Unloader" has been selling these bore gauges for a long time and makes a quality product at a reasonable price. He also makes cases for his gauges and makes wooden shell dismantlers. I have one of his shell dismantlers.

Mark have you measured 8 gauge bores with the hosford gauge? I have seriously considered purchasing it but wanted to insure it can accurately measure 8 gauge bores. If you had one you could get a .835 ring gauge and check the accuracy of the reading, but I would like to test it before I buy.

Eldon,
Yes, I have measured 8 gauge bores with the Hosford bore gauge. It does not come with a standard (calibration) ring for 8 gauge but calibrating it for 10 gauge puts it pretty darn close to perfect for 8 gauge. Also, for most tasks an accurate differential is all that is required, i.e. the amount of choke constriction. Mark |
Would one of you post a link?
