Home Made Shipping Box
3 Attachment(s)
Because a few folks have asked, here are a few pictures of a box I just built and shipped one of Austin's guns to a member.
It is made of 1" x 3" pine (which actually measures 3/4" X 2 1/2") and 1/4" luan sub-flooring. There is nothing unusual about the protective packing - just bubble-wrap and synthetic 'cheese curls'. . |
Hmm
I don't suppose Edgar would let you ship in one of his. |
Of course he would but currently my costs are about $9/box. I would have to increase my shipping charges substantially if I had to use one of his boxes.
|
Dean how are you getting to the Post Office these days, dog sled or snowmobile?
|
Snowshoes to the dogsled terminal.
|
A couple generations from now some Parker memorabilia collector will proudly display that box as having provenance to the editor of the Parker Pages.
|
And it may have doubled in value by then to eighteen dollars or more
|
Do you just put label on it or do you put cardboard or paper around box?
thanks Pat |
I put a label on it and tape over it and all the corners and edges with 2" clear packing tape.
|
One of the good features of "The Dean Box" is it fits in the USP system. Two of us who had guns shipped in boxes made of much heavier wood found that they did not "fit" the system so were just set aside We ended finally ended up getting the guns, but not without a lot of effort and angst.
