Cracks!!
1 Attachment(s)
First pic is a crack that runs through the wrist, second is on top behind frame.
The odd thing is I have had this gun for probably 15 years or more, not run more than maybe 100 she'll through it, and none in the last 10 years. I'm sure these cracks were there or possibly happened when I last shot it, but not noticeable until I just got it out recently to wipe it down. Could temp (hot/cold) or humidity have caused these to show up more over the years? Can these be easily repaired without altering the original stock finish, and who would you recommend I have do the work? I live in NW Ohio, but would not necessarily have an issue shipping if there is someone who is "the guy" to have this kind of work done. |

I have used Brian Board with great results. He lives in Missouri.

My man for serious cracks is a member- Chris Dawes.

I agree with Mr. Purtill.

First, your stock is made of Black Walnut. This stuff does not age well. And continues to dry out and shrink over the years. Thus, virtually all Parkers stocked with this wood will crack eventually with enough use. The cracks you show are not uncommon. But they are serious. You should not shoot the gun until they are professionally repaired.
It is a gamble as to whether the original finish will need replaced in the process. The best cracked stock fixer in the US is The Stock Doctor. He's in OR. http://www.thestockdr.com/ |
I agree Mr. Rise but you will be waiting a good long while as Dennis is backed up right now.

It is against my principles to ever agree with Dave, and usually George too. However, in this instance, I must compromise my better judgement and agree with both.

Brian Dudley did a beautiful job repairing a couple of small flake cracks for me on a bhe .I just gave him a more challenging project not quite as bad as your gun. I have complete confidence in Brian's ability to handle the repair.
