a wake up call at 10AM :rotf: how rural life has changed.
I'm afraid no good Parker stories here Charlie, been trying to decide on either getting another Parker project I have been watching on one of the sites or picking up an interesting Birmingham gun (no name on it). While I go over a Marlin 90 16 I may unload to help finance that. Anyone who says a Parker is complicated never looked inside one of those- the safety/trigger block has two anchor points and articulated levers just to do that. |
He is giving the rest of us a chance to sleep in.
|
Charlie did I miss the pictures on this 8ga.
|
If it is the one Charlie got from Mills, I have pictures of the gun from about four years ago... but I don't know what it looks like today.
|
or is this his new one
in which case, Charlie-- did you figure out your issue with the lock and cocking? |
I think Charlie is up to three 8 gauges, if my memory is correct

I shot (or tried to) shoot ducks Saturday morning. Did some redneck proof testing of Damascus barrels with Rio Bismuth and they passed the test. No. 5 shot just does not do the job on big ducks though. It was a beautiful morning with my son, so that was all that counts

Had trouble killing ducks with #5? One of my favorite sizes for duck. There have been seasons where I literally shot nothing else. I've also killed quite a few incidental geese with it. What trouble were you having?
|
I shot a Ruddy duck on Currituck twice with No. 5 and the guide had to finish it off. Shot another one with 2's and it was DOA. I was surprised myself. Several other shots this season which I thought were hits but the duck kept going. Could be my poor marksmanship, but the ducks looked hit.
